How to travel Ladhak in just 11000RS.
Even if you need to take a loan to travel ladhak on 200% interest rate then go take it because it can be the biggest investment on yourself..
Ladhak is one of the beatiful place situated in the Jammu and kashmir state of India. Many indian and foreigners visit ladhak from may to September because after September because of freezing temperatures the gate for tourist gets closed. Ladhak is surrounded with mountains and on many places you can see mountains with snow. Whether you are travelling solo or with friends or wife it doesn't matter because this place is for all.
If you are a couple this place is the most romantic. If you are traveling with your friends you can enjoy the high fives while riding bullet, campfires, pictures together on breathtakingly mountain views.
Trekking with friends and even if you are travelling solo then this trip can change your life like it changed mine because every road has something to teach you and especially the roads of ladhak.
the road of ladhak
In this blog i will guide you with the basics of travelling to any place keep in mind things like, where to stay, what to eat , how to travel there, the internal transfers and the costings which can help you plan your ladhak trip.
How to reach Ladhak.
There are so many ways to reach ladhak almost all transportation facilities are available like plane, bus ,car and obviously bike especially bullet bike.
By plane
There is an airport in leh (IXL) airport code.
I usually travel by air if its a long distance journey because it makes me reach earlier at the location so that i can have more time to see the place. In your life you can have more money for anything you want if you understand the value of time. I understand it well so i always travel by air.

By bus
You can easily get bus/taxi to leh from dehli or shimla . You can get a bus at 3.45pm . There will be a one night halt in keylong and next morning the journey restarts.
By your own vehicle.
There are many bikers who come from long distance places like Maharashtra, south india and karnataka as well, I call them insane because how they manage to travel for such a long distance its quite risky but for many its an adventure's journey .
I would not recommend you to travel from such a long distance because anything you do it for long time definitely makes you bored also you wont have that much time or energy to enjoy ladhak. Better you can hire a bike/car from manali and can enjoy the Himalayas mountain and ice together.
Or
much better option, you can manage to reach leh by plane/travels and from leh hire a bullet which cost you around 1000rs a day.
You can still enjoy the mighty mountains from leh to kargil which is 240km journey 6 hours journey , from leh to khardungla 40km 2 an a half hour ride , khardungla to nubra valley 65km takes 3 hours , from nubra valley to pangong lake 160km 6 hours journey and from pangong to leh 160 km 6 hours journey.
This is too much if you are planning for a bike trip.Where to stay
Day 1
I reached at leh 7am in the morning. I stayed in raybang ghest house . I had to rest for one day because of high altitude its compulsory to rest for one day so that your body can adopt the whether if you dont rest you might fall sick so better dont ruine your holiday by not resting. i stay at The raybang guest house costed me 800rs a day.
Food
Just beside my guest house there was a restaurant called The Garden restaurant from there i ordered chicken sizzler which was good in protein and carbs . I always eat healthy food and count my calories on holiday as well. I can not punish my body by eating unhealthy or junk food. I also carry protein bars and protein powder on all of my travel places so i can not lose my muscles which i have earned after so much of hard work and dedication. I suggest you to take care of your body on holidays as well because if you do so you can look good and have more energy to say yes to all adventures which the place is going to offer you.
Chicken sizzler costed me 350rs and it was worthy.
Day 2
I headed to kargil at 10am on bullet to give a start to my solo journey . On the way to kargil there are many rivers and mountains you can see. The best river is sangam river which has two colours. The best view of the river is from the top. You can do river rifting in this river. I dint do it because i have done this in thailand. Before sangam river there is a magnetic road and mountain which is known for biking . Even if you leave your hand from your bike's handle your bike is not going to fall down. I tried and it worked but i wont recommend you to do it on the highway better do it on the magnetic mountain side they have special place to try your stunt.
sangam river view from the top
There are different colors of mountain on the way to kargil and beautiful views of roads. It seems the mountains speak to you as if they know you well. I reached kargil at 6pm as i stopped at so many places to enjoy mountain views and to capture it the moments in my phone. When i reached kargil i dint find anything interesting there but kargil is known for the sacrifices done by indian army and how they won the kargil war. I feel so proud to be an indian when i see our soldiers truck, army officers and areas. The soldiers stopped me so many times on the way not to check my licence but to serve me cold drinks/ water and food. I couldn't refuse them for the cold drinks they served me. Ladhak is cold even in may, to September .after September ladhak's road get closed for tourist because of freezing whether . The roads get covered up with snow. I was shivering even after wearing 3 T-shirt one sweater , one imported bike jacket , sweat cap and helmet because ladhak is that cold in june as well. The soldiers stay on mountains in freezing whether just to save us and our country .they die there to make sure we live peacefully. To save us they sacrifice themselves. You will realized the sacrifices our soldiers have done for us and still keep doing . I used to salute all the soldiers i see in my way.
fun in lamayru
Food
there is a gurudwara before sangam river where you can eat for free . I did eat there while coming back from kargil.
I took a break in lamayru village to munch on something .lamayru is exactly half distance from kargil and leh where there is a monastery . Food is cheap there. Its a beautiful village.
In kargil i ate in a local restaurant which costed me 250rs.
Stay
I stayed in a guest house which costed me 500rs only. You can easily get rooms starting from 300rs per day in kargil.
Day 3
Khardungla, nubra valley and pangong lake.
The owner of bike shop from whom i had hired bullet told me to take permission to visit pangong, khardungla and nubra valley. This places are border sensitive areas and you need special permit from a local tourism department situated in leh.
I asked him to take it for me for that i paid him 650rs. I had only two days left to see the places i heard a lot.

Day 3
Back to leh in 7 hours by stopping only at lamayru for half and hour and doing a small trek to a pilgrimage place in front of gurudwara after eating food there to burn some extra calories .
that night i stayed in rabyang ghest house.
One was pangong lake and second the world's highest motorable peak (khardungla) where you can get to see icy mountains in all seasons.
The bike owner said you cant do pangong lake and khardungla together in one day. You have to take rest in pangong for one day and numbra valley for one day and third you have to come back to leh. Nubra valley was not important for me.
I started at 10am for khardungla i reached on the top at 11.45am. I took pictures and videos on the world's highest motorable peak . I really enjoyed with the ice as i was seeing it for the first time. After 15 minutes i left for nubra. The road for nubra are narrow with so many blind curves , be careful when you drive to nubra. After 2 and half hour i reached nubra valley. I stopped there for fifteen minutes and then left for pangong via shyok lake to make the impossible to possible. There is a way to pangong lake just 5km from nubra valley. Pangong lake is world's famous blue lake which is 60% in china and 40% in india. The lake has got more attention for indians after the movie 3 idiots where amir khan has shown flaying a kite on the river.
Via shyok lake pangong is around 160km . The lake is beautiful with white sand covering the mountains and the road. You hardly see anybody on the road and believe me its scary . Finally i made it, i reached pangong at 8pm.

Even at 8pm the sun was not totally set it was getting set. There was little bit light so i immediately took a video of the lake.
Stay
The owner of the bike shop said pangong is very expensive and below 5000rs you cant have place to stay there.
He was wrong !!
I approached a guy seemed to be solo traveler as i dint want to pay that much all alone so i thought of sharing with other person. I asked him if we can share the room together as its expensive. He said he is not alone and he has come with his friend who was bargaining with the guest house owner ( the royal pangong ghuest house). The guy said still he can manage to share room with me. I was shocked when i heard the price . It was just 1200rs. That 1200rs we 3 had to share which costed me 400rs. We all three boys enjoyed talking to each other. Making friends is that easy for me. These boys had come from harayana on new bullet without a number plate. I saluted them for what they did.
Food
The royal pangong had its own restaurant as well but it was expensive. A paneer pratha was for 150rs. I dint mind paying that because only there 5 months ladhaki people earn from tourist and paying little bit to the one who deserve is not going to empty your pockets. I ate paratha with 2 protein bars. I loved the mountain view and the lake view together from the window as it was too cold outside in the night .
We all 3 slept on the bed managing to cover our legs to head with one blanket.
In the night i woke up three time due to lack of oxygen. Pangong is on high altitude of 15000feet. Some people need exygen to servive. Carry oxygen with you if you have breathing problem or any other serious health issues.

Day 5.
I woke up at 5.30 and it was light outside.
Ladhak gets lighter at 4.30 itself.
It was raining and after sometimes snow fall started. I just loved that. Snow fall i saw first time in my life. Without waiting for a second i woke up yogi one whom i approached for room sharing. He also woke up with excitement and took my video , in return i took his video as well.
The snow fall stopped after sometimes. We dint even wash our face because the water was freezing. We had prathas in the breakfast . We packed our bags and tied them on our bikes. We left for the main view of the lake where amir khan has shown flying kite in 3 idiot movie.
At around 11am we left for leh.
On the way to leh before changla (the world's second highest motorable peak) we saw frozen lake, only this was left to see in ladhak (bas yahi baki rah gaya tha) . We stopped there walked on the frozen lake took so many pictures and videos and left from there. We stopped at changla for taking picture with the yellow board where it was written that it was the world's second highest motorable peak.
the frozen lake
35km Before Leh Yogi and his friend i still dont know his name stopped there to say me goodbye as they had to go to manali from there. We took lunch there hugged each other and left towards our destination.
I reached leh at 4.30pm . I returned the bike to the owner. He took 500rs extra for the scratches on the bike. I paid him as i did not want ro argue and ruin my best time.
There was a tent stay in the garden restaurant . The tent stay costed me 300rs. I asked the restaurant owner to arrange a cab for me to airport as my flight was at 7am so i dint want to take risk. I paid the taxi driver 300rs took my flight to mumbai and from mumbai to pune by shivneri bus.
ladhak was the best trip of my life and ladhak made me write about its beauty.
Ladhak is way beautiful beyond your imagination.
i made it simple for you to travel ladhak so dont wait just go for it.
